Wikipedia is communist, open source is communist, hell MOST of our society is procommunist and only retarded people act like the term is an insult.

In its purest form, there were a bunch of rich men who held big factories (patents) and forced people to labor in them (royalties)… then the proletariats rose up and said “you know what, we can build our OWN factories” (open source). (Err, okay, so technically it was bloodier than that, but the notion is still the same)

If you know NOTHING of the material, reading it up on wikipedia only makes you stupider; “class” refers to “oppression by circumstance” (software patents). Or rather, because the rich were born rich they will always be rich. Because the poor were born poor they will always be poor. You pay Apple royalties to code on their products because you are an insignificant programmer and apple “controls” the means of production.

The parallels are far too large to ignore. Open source IS communism, people need to stop refuting this and accept it.

P.S.
Open source is as far from capitalism and the free market as possible. The market “chooses the price” is not the same as flooding the market until the price is nil and your competitors cannot turn a profit. Or, in the case of Debears, manipulating the market price by creating an artificial shortage. That is more akin to corporate capitalism and the mess it entails.
