About

Karl Beecher is a freelance consultant, teacher and writer who specialises in IT and computer science. He tries to straddle the line between industry and academia.

In the past, he has worked as a software engineer, but more recently moved to Berlin, Germany and became a research associate at Freie Universität Berlin. Karl remains based in Berlin, but accepts clients from anywhere in the world.

He obtained his PhD from the University of Lincoln, UK in 2009, where his main research interest was the evolution of FLOSS (Free/Libre/Open Source Software).
